So, you’ve been given the rather daunting task of putting together a best man funny speech? Well, to be quite honest, it’s not really as daunting as you might think… Once you’ve gotten past the nerves, you just need to get some funny and entertaining material together and present in the right way - it’s really not that hard so don’t worry too much.
So how do we kill those nerves?
Even the most hilarious and confident people can be crippled with nerves. Here are my top tips for keeping your head together so you can deliver a killer best man speech:
- Keep a clear head. If you can focus and concentrate on the job in hand, chances are you’ll be able to breeze through your speech - and if things start to go wrong, you’ll at least be able to pick things up and carry on quite easily - the best way to do this is to lay off the alcohol until after you’ve delivered your speech. You’ll also save a lot of embarassment!
- Prepare well! By this I mean make sure you’ve learned your lines and you can recite all your one-liners off the top of your head, or at least with the help of some well-written prompting notes. If you’re well-prepared then you’re going to be more confident because you have a ready made plan of action.

So, you’re the best man at a wedding and you’ve now got the daunting task of putting together an entertaining best man funny speech… Your task is to deliver a special speech that everyone will remember will remember for all the right reasons.
If you’re nervous, don’t worry - even the most naturally confident and funny people can buckle with nerves when presented with a roomfull of people to make laugh. But if you follow my basic guidelines, you’ll be better prepared and able to deliver the goods on the big night itself! You can find even more useful best man tips on this site.
- Preparation is the key. If you’ve prepared your speech well, you’l have less reason to be nervous.
- Use a killer opening line that’ll have everyone laughing from the start - something along the lines of “This is the second time today I have stood up from a warm seat with a piece of paper in my hand…”.
- Don’t drink too much before the speech - You may well end up making a fool of yourself, and you’ll find it difficult to follow your notes.
- Make sure you don’t offend anybody
- Flatter the bride!

Everyone is always looking for the best deal they can get when it comes to organising stag do t-shirts, and I really can’t blame them. It’s pretty expensive, especially when there are a lot of lads in your group. If you want extra prints (such as getting your nicknames printed on your t-shirt backs across the shoulders), you might be charged a fiver or more if you don’t shop around. Well, it is possible to get a bargain - just take my advice and you’ll see…
You’ve probably seen those websites where you can actually design your own t-shirts online. You’ve got the complete freedom to put text or images anywhere you want on the t-shirts, and it can be a whole of fun to do. Or can it?
Have you ever actually tried using one of these sites? If you have, then you’ll probably agree with me that they are extremely fiddly, if not impossible to use! Not only that, but you need to be a qualified fashion designer if you’re going to get anything half-decent looking. Worse still, if you’ve got several people in your stag group, you have to keep starting over, trying to get each t-shirt to look right with regards to the positioning of each print. Forget it!
If you want to make things simple, and quick, all you’ve got to do is find a decent t-shirt printing firm who you can just tell them what you want and they’ll get on with it. You’ll also find it a lot cheaper. Here’s a good place to get started.

Here are details you’ll need to decide before you get a quote for your stag party t-shirts…
- T-shirts or Polo shirts?
We use 100% cotton t-shirts and polo shirts. Polo shirts are basically t-shirts that button up, and they have collars, which is a slightly smarter look. They usually cost about a quid more per t-shirt, and for this you get a better quality, classier look. ‘Sup to you, take your pick! - What colour t-shirt & print
We stock pretty much every colour t-shirt you can think of, and a huge range of print colours including gold and silver, and flourescent colours. We also don’t charge any extra if for example you wanted the stag’s t-shirt in a difference colour, to help make him stand out in the group. - Large print on the front or left hand breast print?
Left-hand-breast print works best for polo shirts - a logo about 12cm wide, or something like “Jon’s Stag Do” with “Prague ‘09″ underneath. Or you could have your names on the front of your shirts. There are no rules! - Names on the back across the shoulders
For example, the stag might have “STAG” across the back, and the rest of the lads could have their nicknames, which is a popular option. Try this link for some inspiration stag t shirt nicknames. - Numbers on the back?
Football team style - Or you could all have 69 printed on the back, or even your phone numbers1 - Sleeve Print
We can print anything you like on the sleeves of the t-shirts, no problem. - Fonts
Choose a font that stands out - chunkier fonts are usually best for this. Take a look at www.1001freefonts.com - there’s a huge range to choose from - just let us know the name of the fonts you’d like us to use, when you contact us for a quote. - Photos
If you’ve got an embarassing photo of the stag you’d like us to print on the shirts, no problem! We’ll need the photo in .jpg format sent via email attachment (or alternatively you can post it to us so we can scan it in).
When you’ve decided how you want your shirts to look, make a list of each member of your stag party group. Be sure to include
- Number (if you’re having football team-style numbers on the back of your shirts)
- Name or nickname
- Size

We spend a lot of time checking out other companies that print t-shirts for stag parties, so that we can stay 10 steps ahead of them in terms of quality, service and value. Lately we’ve been noticing more and more of these websites popping up where you can design your own t-shirts online using some nifty software - but to be honest with you, they’re simply not the solution for stag party t-shirts.
Why?
- Well, for a start, you’re probably going to want individual names on the back of each t-shirt - well it takes long enough to design just one t-shirt - try multiplying that by the number lads in your group… plus you’ve got to get the positioning of the text exactly the same on each one…. what a nightmare… forget it!
- Unless you’ve got a degree in art, your stag night t-shirts aren’t exactly going to look stunning! You want you & the lads to look dapper on your big night out, don’t you?
- After spending an hour or more designing the t-shirts, you get to find out the price! And don’t be surprised if it’s a lot more than what you expected to pay. Yes that’s right, you’re actually expected to PAY for the privelidge of designing your own t-shirts.

How to get trashed at a Stag Do without killing yourself

So, the big night finally arrives… There’s bound to be some serious quantities of booze consumed, and quite rightly… Here’s a couple of tips to help your drinking stamina, and to make sure you don’t feel like death the next morning… (By the way, StagDoSite.com encourages responsible drinking).
- Get a lining on your stomach. This goes without saying! Get pissed on an empty stomach and you’ll make a total cock out of yourself, ruin your chances of pulling, and probably be the first one to bed. Get some chips or a kebab down your neck - but go light with the chilli sauce if you want to avoid stomach troubles/terminal flatulence later in the night!
- Avoid salty snacks - crisps and nuts will dehydrate you, making you more thirsty, and therefore make you drink even more.
- Have the odd glass of water throughout the night - it really does work - it keeps you hydrated and can dramatically reduce your hangover the next day.
